Contact Brant History

I
n 1997, the Ministry of Community, Family and Children's Services created the Making Services Work for People (MSWFP) policy document.  Advisory panels were created across the region to provide recommendations for implementation of the policy to the Hamilton/Niagara Regional Office.  The Brant advisory panel recommended the formulation of a new organization that would collaborate with the local community to provide a “single point of access” for children’s and developmental services.

The Grand Opening of Contact Brant took place on September 18, 2000. In October 2008, Contact Brant moved to its current location at 25 King Street in downtown Brantford. For eleven years Contact Brant was the single point of access for Children's Mental Health, Children's Developmental and Adult Developmental Services. On July 1, 2011 Adult Developmental Services transitioned to the new Developmental Services Ontario Hamilton-Niagara Region and Contact Brant continues as the single point of access for children's mental health and developmental services. Contact Brant is pleased to have the DSO co-located with us at 25 King Street.

Contact Brant provides the following services:

  • Single point of access which includes intake, assessment of appropriate services, referrals to services, waitlist management.
  • Information on general community services and resources in Brant.
  • Service coordination which could include Case conferencing
  • Facilitate the community's Case Resolution for at risk situations.
  • Coordinate Residential Placement Advisory Committee (RPAC)
  • Facilitate system planning to improve Brant's Children's Services with community partners.

  • Provide System Reports to the community and Ministry highlighting system gaps and pressures.

  • Administer Passport Direct Funding for adults with a developmental disability.
